Facilities Lab Manager

Job Description

Job Title: Facilities Lab Manager, Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, CA, USA

This role requires a strong technical background, hands-on experience with lab infrastructure, and the ability to collaborate with contractors, engineers, research scientists, and EHS teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with technicians and engineers on facility projects, preventive maintenance, shutdowns, and emergencies.
  • Coordinate tool installations, relocations, and start-ups, including scheduling deliveries and site preparation.
  • Translate technical documentation and work with vendors to provide infrastructure for new equipment;
  • Support and enforce laboratory safety procedures, ensuring compliance with chemical, electrical, and mechanical safety protocols.
  • Plan equipment layouts and ensure utilities are in place for efficient fab operations.
  • Maintain service agreements and equipment maintenance schedules in a high-tech environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with safety regulations and protocols in a research environment;
  • 1 year of experience maintaining lab facilities with CDA, LN2, vacuum systems, chilled water, DI/RO water, exhaust, and chemical waste systems.
  • 1 year of experience overseeing electrical, mechanical, and plumbing construction in an R&D setting.

Preferred:

  • Experience with CAD software (Onshape, Solidworks, AutoCAD, ProEngineer).
  • Hands-on experience with machining, welding, soldering, carpentry, power tools, and CNC equipment.
  • Experience providing safety guidance for chemical processes, equipment design, and lab setup;
  • Skills in troubleshooting vacuum, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
  • Proficiency with electro-mechanical measurement tools (oscilloscopes, generators, calipers, etc.).
  • Experience maintaining infrastructure such as PCW, CDA, N2, LN2, and HEPA filters.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or 5S operations in lab environments.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Base salary range: $113,000–$161,000 (dependent on location, skills, and experience).
  • Additional compensation includes bonuses, equity, and comprehensive benefits;
