Senior Quantum Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Quantum Engineer. Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina

This position fits an experienced engineer who works well from first principles, builds systems from the ground up and enjoys a fast paced startup environment; The role offers the chance to influence both the technology and the culture of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of RF circuits, microelectronic systems, resonant cavities, and waveguide structures for quantum control and readout.
  • Integrate analog, digital, and RF subsystems to achieve low noise, stable performance in field ready platforms.
  • Work closely with software and FPGA teams to ensure smooth control, synchronization, and data acquisition;
  • Build automation tools, calibration workflows, and testing infrastructure to speed up system development and validation.
  • Create engineering standards for the new facility, including design, simulation, testing, and documentation processes.
  • Mentor engineers and scientists, supporting a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
  • Contribute to long term architecture decisions and help define scalable quantum hardware strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Quantum Engineering, or a related field.

Technical Skills:

  • At least eight years of experience in RF design, microelectronics, or quantum hardware development.
  • Strong background in RF systems, resonant cavities, and waveguides;
  • Experience in hardware software integration, FPGA based control, and embedded systems.
  • Hands on skill with tools such as HFSS, COMSOL, ADS, Altium, KiCad, and programming in Python or C or C plus plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Clear communication and strong teamwork.
  • Ability to mentor others and lead by example;
  • Interest in helping shape the direction of an early stage company.

Location and Work Arrangement: This is a full time, on site role based in Winston Salem, North Carolina; Relocation support may be offered. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
