Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Hardware Engineer. Location: Yorktown Heights, New York, United States

Responsibilities:

• Support chip development through tasks such as optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and electrical characterization.
• Assist with data analysis to evaluate performance of quantum devices;
• Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including fabrication engineers and physicists.
• Participate in hands-on lab work and collaborate on research and development efforts to advance IBM’s quantum hardware.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field: Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Applied Physics, or a related discipline.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems independently.
• Strong communication skills and experience working in interdisciplinary teams.
• Growth mindset and willingness to learn new techniques.

Preferred:

• Experience with materials characterization tools such as:
  • Optical Microscopy
  • Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)
  • Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM)
  • X-ray Diffraction (XRD)
