Job Title: Ion Trap Wafer Fabrication Manager. Location: Plymouth, MN, USA
Type: Full-time, On-site
Responsibilities:
Program Execution and Leadership
- Oversee the development and fabrication of ion traps and related components.
- Gather requirements, create development plans, and deliver completed hardware to commercial systems and testbeds.
- Track progress, allocate resources, manage risks, and ensure technical performance, schedule, and cost targets are met.
- Lead a team of physicists, engineers, and technicians, providing technical direction and mentorship.
Foundry Partner Coordination
- Create statements of work, schedules, and milestones to achieve short- and long-term goals.
- Work closely with project managers and technical leaders at both Quantinuum and partner foundries.
- Report progress to leadership and maintain compliance with IP and government regulations.
Technology Development
- Collaborate with designers, subsystem teams, and system architects to define ion trap requirements.
- Contribute to simulation, conceptualization, and scaling of ion trap technologies.
- Drive process improvements for robust, high-yield fabrication.
Team Development
- Hire, develop, and mentor technical staff.
- Conduct performance reviews, set technical goals, and provide career development support.
- Address staffing needs and fill skill gaps.
Strategic Planning
- Define technical milestones and decision points for the team.
- Align short-term roadmaps with long-term strategic plans.
- Manage IP portfolio, resource procurement, and interdepartmental dependencies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in semiconductor device development/manufacturing (ICs, MEMS, or PICs);
- At least 3 years in a technical leadership role;
- U.S. Person status (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, green card holder, or individuals with asylum/refugee status).
- Not a national of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.
Preferred
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD).
- Direct people management in wafer fabrication (ICs, MEMS, photonics).
- Proven expertise in semiconductor design and fabrication;
- Experience in complex project management;
- Strong industry network, organizational, and communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $180,000 – $225,000 annually (includes incentive eligibility).
