Lab Operations Technician

Job Description

Job Title: Lab Operations Technician. Location: Milpitas, California, United States

We are seeking a Lab Operations Technician to support component assembly, lab operations, and cryogenic system testing; This is a hands-on role working with advanced quantum hardware in a cleanroom and manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble parts and components based on engineering specifications.
  • Perform sub-assembly testing and install assemblies into cryostats.
  • Cleave and splice fiber optic cables.
  • Use hand tools and small parts (screws, welds, press fits) to build equipment and connect circuits.
  • Operate cryogenic test systems and perform room-temperature testing;
  • Maintain material inventory, update the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and generate shift reports.
  • Support lab and cleanroom operations, including maintenance and repairs.
  • Follow sub-assembly instructions and ensure quality standards;
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating with operations and engineering teams.
  • Support additional operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in semiconductor, optical, or R&D test roles.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (4 years relevant experience).
  • Experience operating precision tooling and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to inspect and assure quality of own work.
  • Experience handling small components with precision tools;
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual handling safely.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Windows applications.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Willingness to take initiative, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a start-up environment.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.
