Job Description
Job Title: Lab Technician – Physical Characterization and Failure Analysis. Location: Albany, New York, United States. Job Type: Entry-Level, Full-Time, Shift-Based
Responsibilities:
- Operate transmission electron microscope (TEM), focused ion beam (FIB), optical microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM), and potentially other tools such as atomic force microscope (AFM) and scanning capacitance microscope (SCM).
- Perform data collection using TEM, STEM, and EDX techniques;
- Fabricate TEM samples using FIB tools;
- Follow instructions from lead engineers and accurately execute test procedures.
- Support lab maintenance and organization, including sorting and storing wafers.
- Understand the basics of semiconductor fabrication environments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, etc.).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer use.
- Good spatial awareness and ability to visualize 3D structures from 2D images.
- Manual dexterity to handle small components;
- Basic understanding of physics and chemistry.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree.
- At least 1 year of experience in the semiconductor industry.
- Familiarity with basic integrated circuit design and functionality;
- Hands-on experience operating TEM, SEM, FIB, and optical microscopes.
Shift Schedule
This position requires an alternating weekly shift:
- Week 1: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat (7am – 7pm)
- Week 2: Sun, Wed, Thu (7am – 7pm)
Night shifts (7pm – 7am) are also available on the same days.
