Microwave & Signal Integrity Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Microwave and Signal Integrity Engineer. Location: Palo Alto, California, USA

We are looking for an on-site Microwave and Signal Integrity (SI) Engineer to support the development of novel electro-optic devices and systems; This role includes both simulation-based design and hands-on lab testing of high-speed circuits and interconnects.

Responsibilities:

Electromagnetic Simulation

  • Build and run EM simulation models for electro-optic devices and interconnects
  • Analyze and present results to guide future design decisions;
  • Create and maintain shareable simulation templates;
  • Document simulation results with clear notes on assumptions and limitations

Signal and Power Integrity

  • Evaluate SI performance of active devices co-packaged with high-speed drivers
  • Apply knowledge of electrical amplifiers in simulations

Data Analysis & Automation

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to create adaptable E&M models
  • Use scripting to run parameter variation studies for design optimization

Cross-functional Communication

  • Work with photonics, physics, and IC design teams to ensure full system integration
  • Share insights and results across teams to support broader simulation and modeling efforts

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • 1–5 years of experience in microwave, RF, or SI analysis;
  • Proficiency with EM simulation tools like HFSS and Keysight ADS (or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with VNAs, high-speed scopes, probes, and RF test equipment
  • Strong scripting skills in Python or MATLAB;
  • Solid understanding of S-parameters, circuit theory, and data modeling

Preferred:

  • Python scripting for automating workflows in ADS or HFSS
  • Experience with statistical data analysis;
  • Familiarity with electro-optic devices
  • Willingness to spend 10–20% of time in lab settings
