Job Title: Advanced Opto-Mechanical Engineer. Location: Broomfield, CO. Job Type: Full-time, On-site
We are looking for an experienced Advanced Opto-Mechanical Engineer to join our Quantum Computing Hardware team; In this role, you'll collaborate with physicists and engineers to develop high-precision opto-mechanical systems used in advanced photonic & micro-optics platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop quantum research and commercial systems.
- Design and model opto-mechanical components using CAD tools.
- Build, align, and test high-performance optical systems;
- Develop lens assemblies and integrate motion control systems for optical alignment.
- Select appropriate materials and adhesives for optical and photonic assemblies.
- Apply FEA tools to evaluate structural, modal, and thermal performance
- Create detailed engineering drawings, documentation, and assembly procedures.
- Contribute hands-on to machining, prototyping, and test setups.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optics, or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in opto-mechanical CAD design for photonics or optics (advanced degrees count toward experience).
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted asylum/refugee status);
- Must not be a national of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen (due to national security requirements).
Preferred:
- Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field.
- Proficiency in CAD platforms such as Onshape;
- Experience with fiber alignment systems and polarization-maintaining fibers.
- Familiarity with motion control systems and active optical feedback loops.
- Practical knowledge of fabrication, machining, and optical component assembly.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary range: $114,000 – $143,000 annually
