Job Title: Physicist - Resilience Engineering & Operations. Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
As a System Operations Engineer, you will join a cross-functional team focused on operating and improving our commercial quantum systems; This role is ideal for physics or engineering graduates excited to work with cutting-edge quantum hardware and software.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain, monitor, and improve the performance and uptime of commercial quantum computers
- Ensure optimal system performance through automation and technical improvements;
- Work closely with physicists and engineers to develop tools and solutions for current and future systems
- Deliver a seamless customer experience by maintaining operational excellence;
- Participate in on-call rotation schedules to support 24/7 system uptime
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in physics, engineering, or another physical science
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, especially within distributed teams
- Hands-on experience with optical alignments, laser stabilization, or AOMs
- Eagerness to learn emerging technologies;
- Formal training or education in statistics
- Adaptability to a dynamic and fast-evolving work environment
- Availability for flexible working hours and 24/7 on-call rotation;
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience or equivalent education
- At least 1 year of laboratory experience in atomic and/or optical physics
Preferred:
- PhD in physics, engineering, or a related field
- Experience in Python or JavaScript;
- Background in data science, data analysis, or machine learning
- Software engineering experience
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base Salary Range: $93,150 – $121,958;
- Additional Compensation: Bonus and equity
