PIC Product Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior PIC Product Engineer. Location: Palo Alto, California, United States

As a Senior Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Product Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing, testing, and improving photonic hardware for our linear optical quantum computer (LOQC); Your work will directly influence the performance, reliability, and scalability of our systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure silicon photonic circuits meet performance requirements at the system level.
  • Collaborate with design, test, systems, and manufacturing teams to define performance metrics and calibration methods.
  • Perform statistical data analysis across multiple hardware levels to characterize, troubleshoot, and improve performance.
  • Lead failure analysis, quality evaluations, and performance assessments for development, prototype, and pilot units;
  • Drive specifications and improvements in PIC and subassembly performance during pilot ramp.
  • Provide technical feedback to refine PIC design and process requirements.

Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or Physics with 5+ years of experience, or Ph.D. with 3+ years of experience in photonic integration and manufacturing.
  • Strong expertise in active and passive silicon photonics.
  • Familiarity with device fabrication, materials science, and nanofabrication methods.
  • Hands-on experience with photonic testing methods;
  • Ability to conduct statistical data analysis and present results to technical and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a proven ability to work in interdisciplinary environments.
