Job Description

Job Title: Principal Digital Design Engineer. Location: Palo Alto, California, United States

The Principal Digital Design Engineer will join the Electronic Sub-Systems team and play a key role in designing, implementing and validating digital microarchitectures for FPGA-based systems; This role focuses on high-performance digital logic design that supports PsiQuantum’s large-scale photonic quantum computing platform.

Responsibilities:

• Design, debug, and verify digital logic using Verilog and SystemVerilog for FPGA platforms
• Perform FPGA synthesis, constraint definition, and implementation;
• Conduct functional verification and debugging using simulation tools
• Test and validate FPGA designs in a laboratory environment to ensure performance and reliability;
• Analyze system requirements and contribute to digital microarchitecture definitions and documentation
• Work closely with system architecture, software, and firmware teams across different locations and time zones

Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• Master’s or PhD preferred
• Minimum of 12 years of hands-on experience in FPGA design
• Strong expertise in RTL design, verification, and validation
• Proven experience with laboratory-based FPGA debugging and testing;
• Ability to independently understand system specifications and contribute to architecture design
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams

Compensation and Benefits:

• Bay Area Base Salary Range: $235,000 – $265,000 USD
• U.S. Base Salary Range: $219,000 – $243,000 USD;
• Competitive equity and benefits package for full-time employees
• Compensation may vary based on experience, education, location, and business needs
