Job Description
Job Title: Quantum Engineer I. Location: New Haven, CT, USA
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement large-scale superconducting qubit architectures.
- Develop and test quantum devices and hardware components for gate-model quantum systems.
- Work on production quantum processing units (QPUs) and improve system uptime for users.
- Perform research on quantum control and calibration techniques for dual-rail cavity qubit systems.
- Contribute to quantum error correction and fault-tolerant computing research;
- Support development of scalable quantum architectures for near-term and large-scale systems.
- Execute projects from concept through validation in both independent and team settings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional physics and engineering teams on hardware and system design.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Quantum Computing, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or Bachelor’s with equivalent experience).
- Strong background in quantum device design, physics, or electromagnetic modeling;
- Experience in materials loss analysis, cryogenics, wiring, or quantum measurement systems.
- Proficiency in scientific programming and data analysis (Python, MATLAB, C/C++, Julia, Rust, or similar).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams.
Preferred:
- Experience in superconducting qubit systems and quantum control.
- Knowledge of quantum measurement and calibration techniques;
- Familiarity with fault-tolerant quantum computing and error-corrected systems.
- Hands-on experience in research or industrial quantum development projects.
