Job Description
Job Title: Quantum Engineer II. Location: New Haven, CT, USA
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement large-scale superconducting qubit architectures.
- Develop and test advanced quantum hardware devices and components.
- Contribute to production-grade Quantum Processing Units (QPUs) and improve system uptime.
- Perform research on quantum control and calibration for dual-rail cavity qubits.
- Work on quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computing systems.
- Support pathfinding research for scalable quantum architectures;
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and physics teams.
- Contribute to both theoretical and experimental quantum engineering projects.
- Execute end-to-end research projects from concept to validation.
- Analyze device performance using scientific programming and data tools.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Quantum Computing, Physics, or related experimental field OR Master’s with equivalent industry or research experience.
- Strong background in quantum device physics, E&M modeling, or quantum hardware systems.
- Experience in cryogenics, quantum measurement, or materials loss analysis.
- Strong scientific programming skills (Python, MATLAB, C, C++, Julia, Rust, or similar).
- Ability to independently design and execute research projects;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams across physics and engineering domains.
Preferred:
- Experience in quantum control systems or calibration techniques.
- Background in error-corrected quantum systems or fault-tolerant architectures;
- Experience working with superconducting or cavity-based qubit systems.
- Strong initiative in research-driven environments.

- Base salary range: $86,800 – $130,300 USD (depending on experience and location).
