Job Title: Quantum Research Scientist – Quantum Processor Characterization. Location: Yorktown Heights, New York, United States

Responsibilities:

• Characterize the performance and behavior of superconducting quantum devices.
• Conduct advanced lab experiments involving microwave engineering and quantum control.
• Develop benchmarks for quantum system performance and drive hardware improvements.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including theorists and engineers;
• Develop new intellectual property and contribute to publications;
• Interface microwave test environments with digital systems using Python and related tools.
• Support the broader mission of IBM Quantum through innovation and collaboration.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with superconducting quantum devices or similar technologies.
• Experience in microwave engineering, device testing, and quantum system verification.
• Proficiency in Python for experimentation and data analysis;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team;
• Strong writing and presentation skills, with a proven track record of research.

Preferred:

• PhD in a relevant field.
• At least 4 years of experience in quantum computing or quantum information theory.
• Publications or patents in relevant areas of quantum technology.
