Research Lab Manager

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Applied Science Research Lab Manager. Location: Westford, Massachusetts, USA

This role will support and lead innovative work in building and managing high-performance computing systems in collaboration with researchers, engineers, & strategic partners.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the applied quantum research lab
• Collaborate with internal research, engineering, and architecture teams to design and operate high-performance computing clusters for technology testing and validation
• Troubleshoot complex issues involving networks, operating systems, and user-level software
• Manage infrastructure for power, cooling, and space planning in a data center environment;
• Grow, guide, and mentor a technical team to meet the evolving needs of the lab;
• Work closely with external technology partners and research collaborators
• Drive innovation by integrating new findings and feedback into NVIDIA and partner technologies

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience, including 5+ years in a management role;
• Proven experience in high-performance computing (HPC) environments, especially within R&D labs
• Strong background in operating systems, networking, and hardware/software integration;
• Experience managing infrastructure for data centers, including environmental controls
• Deep understanding of orchestration and cluster management tools such as Slurm and Kubernetes (K8s)
• Effective multitasking, project management, and organizational skills

Qualifications:

• Familiarity with CUDA, GPU-accelerated systems, and AI platforms;
• Knowledge of HPC and AI infrastructure, including CPUs, GPUs, and high-speed interconnects
• Understanding of quantum technologies and their integration with classical HPC systems

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base salary range: $248,000 – $442,750 USD, based on experience and location
• Eligible for equity and full company benefits;
