Job Description

Job Title: Staff Scientist, Hardware Automation (Silicon). Location: Los Angeles (Hybrid)

We are hiring a Staff Scientist focused on hardware automation for silicon-based quantum devices; You will develop advanced quantum control solutions & machine learning techniques to improve quantum hardware performance; Your work will directly support Q-CTRL's product suite and R&D efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Develop reliable tools for solving real-world challenges in quantum computing
• Apply quantum control and machine learning to automate silicon-based quantum device bring-up and implement quantum error correction schemes
• Collaborate with the Quantum Product and Quantum Professional Services teams to align research goals with product development;
• Create clear documentation and presentations of complex technical solutions;
• Use numerical and machine learning packages (e.g. NumPy, Scipy, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn) to build high-quality research software

Qualifications:

• PhD in Physics, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of research experience with hands-on work on silicon-based quantum systems, including system tune-up and characterization
• At least 2 years of experience developing software in Python, C, Rust, or Matlab;
• Understanding of quantum or optimal control and machine learning tools for system optimization
• Familiarity with executing quantum circuits using Qiskit is highly desirable

• Base salary range: $157,500 – $205,000 (exact compensation based on experience and location)
