Job Description
Job Title: Research Scientist – System Optimization and Stability, Quantum. Location: Goleta, CA, USA
Your role will focus on designing and improving systems for calibrating, controlling, and stabilizing multi-qubit quantum processors; You’ll collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to build tools that support the performance, scalability, and reliability of quantum systems.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain software for calibrating, stabilizing, and controlling multi-qubit systems.
- Improve software codebases to be reusable and reliable for broader internal users.
- Benchmark and debug quantum processors to ensure optimized performance;
- Analyze multi-qubit systems using machine learning and modeling tools.
- Write and publish research papers to share findings with the wider scientific community.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Physics, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 2 years of experience conducting research in quantum information science or technology.
- Strong experience in software development for data analysis, modeling, or machine learning;
- Record of at least one publication (conference, journal, or public repository).
Preferred:
- Experience coding in Python, especially in team-based collaborative environments.
- Experience working with quantum gates and readout in superconducting qubit experiments.
- Familiarity with deploying and validating machine learning models;
- Background in control optimization, modeling, and benchmarking of multi-qubit systems.
