Senior Process Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Process Engineer. Location: Palo Alto, California, United States

This role involves designing, optimizing, and improving wafer processes, as well as collaborating with design, packaging, and sub-assembly teams; The engineer will drive yield improvement through defect inspection, data-driven analysis, and process optimization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement semiconductor processes to meet performance requirements.
  • Represent the foundry team in wafer process flows and collaborate with packaging and assembly teams.
  • Optimize processes to improve yield, stability, and reliability;
  • Lead development projects and manage vendor relationships.
  • Apply data analysis tools (such as JMP) to design and refine processes.
  • Use structured problem-solving methods such as FMEA, 8D, and 5-why analysis.
  • Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) in process optimization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of semiconductor process experience.
  • Proven background in process development, implementation, and transfer to high-volume manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with dicing, defect inspection, and post-fabrication processes.
  • Proficiency in metrology and material analysis;
  • Demonstrated success in cross-department project execution.
  • Strong vendor management experience.
  • Familiarity with test structures for identifying and resolving yield limiters.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk management skills.
  • Track record of delivering measurable results;
  • Self-driven, adaptable, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in quantum computing is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • U.S. Base Pay Range: $130,000 – $155,000 USD
  • Bay Area Pay Range: $155,000 – $180,000 USD
  • Full-time roles include eligibility for equity and benefits.
  • Compensation may vary depending on qualifications, experience, and location.
