Site Reliability Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Site Reliability Engineer. Location: Remote – United States or Canada

You will ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of D-Wave’s SaaS products, research lab systems, and production quantum computer infrastructure worldwide; This role demands deep technical experience in systems administration, automation, and complex distributed environments.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and improve monitoring systems across AWS, GCP, on-premises, and remote field systems.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and cryogenics teams to gather requirements, collect and analyze metrics, and enhance observability across the organization.
• Develop and manage alerting systems for infrastructure reliability and scalability.
• Work with DevOps and Test Engineering teams to automate builds and deployments;
• Manage incident response processes, on-call rotations, and training for SRE practices.
• Integrate analytics and monitoring tools such as ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, and Zabbix;
• Support on-premises compute infrastructure including servers, storage, and networking systems.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience managing SaaS or PaaS applications on major cloud platforms (AWS and GCP preferred).
• Strong experience with monitoring systems like Cloudwatch, Stackdriver, and Prometheus.
• 4+ years of experience using log management tools (AOS/Elasticsearch/Loki);
• Expertise with databases including InfluxDB, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and AWS Redshift.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Bash, or Ruby;
• Knowledge of SNMP for monitoring networked devices.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Excellent communication skills and documentation habits.

Preferred:

• 3+ years of experience with Elasticsearch / AWS OpenSearch, Fluent, or Grafana Cloud.
• Experience with Kubernetes monitoring and OpenTelemetry.
• Proven record of building observability and analytics tools across teams.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Base pay: USD 124,364 to 185,545 (Remote, United States)
• Base pay: CAD 124,364 to 185,545 (Remote, Canada)
