Job Description
Job Title: Senior Software Engineering Leader. Location: Berkeley, CA or Fremont, CA (Hybrid)
Responsibilities:
- Technical & Strategic Leadership:
Define and execute the software roadmap for tools supporting quantum chip design, fabrication data management, and process analysis, using physics-informed models;
Lead the development of integrated systems that unite design, simulation, and fabrication data pipelines;
Manage and support the acquisition of tools for design verification, device modeling, and process optimization. - Team Leadership & Mentorship:
Build and lead a cross-disciplinary software team, fostering a culture of collaboration between software engineers, physicists, and fabrication teams;
Mentor team members in modern software engineering practices, platform engineering, and scientific software development; - Cross-functional Collaboration:
Partner with quantum device physicists to model qubit behavior and fabrication variations accurately;
Collaborate with quantum engineers to develop software frameworks that accelerate experimental data analysis; - Technical Execution:
Oversee the development of data platforms and modeling tools that combine design files, fabrication process data, and device performance metrics;
Lead efforts for tools in design rule checking (DRC), layout-vs-schematic (LVS) checks, and process-aware design verification for quantum devices.
Qualifications:
- BS or equivalent in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role;
- Experience building data systems with scientific models and managing large datasets;
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript;
- Experience with AWS development and distributed computing.
- Exceptional candidates may have experience in quantum device physics, quantum control systems, and scientific computing platforms.

- Salary range: $250,000 - $290,000 per year;
