Job Description
Job Title: Unit Process Engineer – CMP and Wets. Location: Albany, New York, United States
IBM is looking for a Unit Process Engineer to support semiconductor process development at Albany Nanotech; You will work with cutting-edge 300mm semiconductor tools in areas such as CMP (Chemical Mechanical Polishing) & wet etching/cleaning, supporting the next generation of quantum and AI hardware.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and qualify 300mm process equipment used in CMP and wet process areas.
- Monitor and troubleshoot tool performance using web-based SPC charts, SiView, and contamination analysis tools.
- Design and run experiments (DOEs) to assess and expand process windows;
- Collaborate with integration, equipment, and material teams to develop and implement new processes.
- Stay current with semiconductor and process innovations, especially in quantum and AI-related fields.
- Contribute to intellectual property development through invention and patent submissions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline;
- Minimum 1 year of experience with semiconductor process equipment
- Strong communication, presentation, and project management skills
Preferred:
- MS or PhD in a related engineering or science field
- Deep knowledge of CMP and wet processing techniques;
- Familiarity with analytical tools and materials characterization techniques
