Commercial Legal Director, Supply Chain

Job Description

Job Title: Commercial Legal Director – Supply Chain. Location: Remote (US)

Responsibilities:

Contract Negotiation & Drafting

• Lead negotiations with strategic suppliers to secure favorable terms on pricing, deliverables, IP rights, and timelines.
• Draft and tailor contracts including consulting agreements, licensing deals, and SaaS vendor agreements to meet technical and business needs.
• Ensure legal soundness and compliance with applicable laws and internal objectives.

Contract Review & Risk Management

• Interpret and review contracts for accuracy, risk exposure, and alignment with IonQ’s goals.
• Advise stakeholders on complex legal provisions, especially in IP, liability, and regulatory areas.

Contract Enforcement & Lifecycle Management

• Monitor ongoing compliance and enforce contractual obligations.
• Support contract renewals, amendments, and performance tracking through IonQ’s lifecycle management system (Ironclad).

Legal Research & Compliance

• Stay current on relevant laws and industry regulations that impact strategic procurement.
• Advise internal teams on necessary updates or adjustments to maintain compliance.

Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school; licensed and in good standing in at least one US jurisdiction (preferred states: NY, DC, DE, MD, CA, WA).
• 6–10 years of relevant legal experience, including both law firm and in-house roles.
• Proven success in supply chain and procurement contract negotiations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Experience managing multiple high-priority projects independently.

Preferred:

• Legal experience in hardware/software tech companies.
• Familiarity with export controls and component purchasing regulations.
• STEM background (engineering, physics, etc.);
• Experience with contract management tools like Ironclad.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary Range: $143,410 – $187,011 (dependent on location and experience)
