IBM Quantum Sales Executive

Job Description

Job Title: IBM Quantum Sales Executive – Americas. Location: Yorktown Heights, NY; Chicago, IL, USA (Hybrid)

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, qualify, progress, and close strategic IBM Quantum client engagements across the Americas.
  • Drive revenue generation and new agreement signings, targeting multi-million-dollar annual deals.
  • Lead complex engagements including cloud access to quantum systems, consulting services, and quantum innovation partnerships.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with clients, including C-suite and senior technical stakeholders.
  • Identify business drivers, create urgency, and navigate challenges to deliver successful agreements.
  • Develop and present compelling value propositions to clients and gain stakeholder consensus;
  • Lead client-facing sales meetings and deliver executive-level presentations.
  • Collaborate with IBM Technology and Consulting teams to identify and drive new opportunities.
  • Maintain and execute against a long-term qualified sales pipeline;
  • Work with IBM Quantum Technical Ambassadors and Technical Services teams to support client success.
  • Represent IBM Quantum at industry events and conferences to drive awareness.
  • Negotiate commercial and contractual terms and close agreements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in client-facing roles such as sales, business development, consulting, or technical pre-sales.
  • Strong ability to build and manage executive-level relationships in complex enterprise environments.
  • Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and value-based selling skills;
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in large, matrixed organizations and collaborating across teams.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of experience in quota-carrying sales roles with responsibility for pipeline generation and deal closure.
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets, ideally $5M+ annually;
  • Experience in selling or supporting emerging or research-driven technologies such as:
    • Cloud platforms and services
    • Quantum computing software or advanced computing technologies
    • Consulting or advisory services
  • Understanding of intellectual property and commercialization models such as licensing and joint ownership.
  • Experience in technical pre-sales, solution design, and business case development;
  • Ability to translate technical capabilities into strong business value propositions.

  • Base salary range: $163,000 – $280,000 per year (plus sales incentives).
