Job Title: Software Development Engineer II – Fabrication Manufacturing Execution System (MES). Location: Los Angeles County, California
AWS is hiring a Software Development Engineer to support the quantum fabrication team by building and maintaining data applications and infrastructure; You will work directly with scientists, engineers, & technical program managers to create scalable software tools that help accelerate progress in quantum computing.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with fabrication scientists and engineers to gather requirements and translate them into technical designs.
- Build software tools for process planning, data visualization, and timeline analysis to support quantum fabrication workflows.
- Maintain and improve data ingestion pipelines connecting custom MES systems with AWS’s broader ecosystem;
- Design robust database schemas that reflect processes and physical artifacts in the fabrication lifecycle.
- Take ownership of software stability, code quality, and system reliability;
- Proactively identify integration bottlenecks and streamline engineering workflows.
- Create charting tools that allow scientists to correlate data across different sources.
- Contribute to the development of fault-tolerant quantum computers through software infrastructure support.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional software development experience (excluding internships);
- 2+ years of experience in system design or architecture with a focus on reliability and scalability
- Proficiency in at least one major programming language (e.g., Python)
Preferred:
- 3+ years of experience across the full software development lifecycle (coding standards, reviews, source control, CI/CD, operations)
- Hands-on experience building or supporting a Manufacturing Execution System;
- Previous collaboration with research scientists or fabrication teams
- Experience using AWS cloud services
Team Overview: You will join the Device Lifecycle Software Development team at the AWS Center for Quantum Computing; This team develops the infrastructure needed to scale quantum technologies; The environment combines software engineering with cutting-edge research.

Compensation & Benefits:
- Base Salary Range: $129,300 to $223,600/year, depending on location and experience;
- Other Compensation: May include equity, signing bonuses, and full medical and financial benefits
