Quantum Developer Advocate

Job Description

Job Title: Intern 2026: Quantum Developer Advocate. Location: Yorktown Heights, NY; San Jose, CA; Cambridge, MA; Albany, NY, USA

This position is ideal for individuals who are skilled in both technology and communication, enjoy explaining complex concepts, and thrive in collaborative environments; You will work closely with researchers, software developers, and educators to advance community initiatives, workforce development, and IBM’s quantum education strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Support IBM’s quantum education and community enablement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with researchers, developers, and educators to build a strong ecosystem.
  • Explain complex quantum concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide hands-on support for workforce development projects;
  • Assist in advancing IBM’s education and enablement strategies across multiple ecosystems.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
  • Strong background in physics, chemistry, computer science, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in Python and Qiskit SDK;
  • Understanding of common quantum algorithms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to teach and present technical concepts clearly.

Preferred:

  • General knowledge of superconducting qubits.
  • Familiarity with quantum error suppression and mitigation techniques.
  • Experience running workloads on IBM quantum devices;
  • Awareness of the limitations of classical computing.
  • Published research in quantum computational science.
